Fleming transparency

Referencing Jack Bush's colour-field paintings, Joe Fleming's latest solo exhibition Thinking Of Bush is a collection of well composed "sculptural" paintings, most on plexiglas.  The transparency/translucency of the plexi-support adds layers to the already interesting compositions while the interplay of light and shadows brings new dimensions beyond the flat picture plane.  This new series of paintings are my most favourite by Fleming so far.

The Cube

The Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg is a Canadian National Historic Site consisting of about 150 heritage buildings from the early 20th century.  At the heart of the Exchange District is Old Market Square, which is accented by 5468796 Architecture's 2010 award-winning The Cube (aka Old Market Square Stage):











Just a couple blocks away on McDermot Avenue is 5468796's office:
